As a component of the background work undertaken in support of the "Witnessing Revolution Liveblog" (née "Eyes on Egypt and the Region Liveblog") we have been soliciting suggestions from Kossacks for background reading materials. Our goal is to create a bibliographic resource by Kossacks for Kossacks interested in reading more deeply into the background of the events and processes we are witnessing and perhaps (my personal hope) interested in delving into the wider discourses which inform our unique "takes" on the interpretations and explanations of these events and processes.
These readings can be books, articles or web-sites; they can be non-fiction or fiction; they can be general or specific to a country or issue. The point is to help provide context for a more thorough understanding and appreciation of the structures, mentalities, events and personalities behind the rush of news processed in the Liveblogs.
