Davej wrote a good diary yesterday explaining an ad buy Crossroads GPS (Karl Rove's shadow RNC) has made to counteract all the good work of the poeple in unions. I just saw this ad on television today for the first time (I'm asking that people do not go to this link so that we do not provide many hits for this video on youtube - it currently has about 16,000 hits).
The ad is exactly what we would expect from Karl Rove. As Davej points out, the ad's "facts" come from poor research and conjecture. But one thing in the ad hit home with me. The ad ends with a long quote that Bob Chanin, NEA General Counsel, made in July 2009. In this quote, Mr. Chanin says
"It's not because we care about children. And it's not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective because we have power. And we have power because there are 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues..."
These jokers think they can disparage teachers. They have made a career of it and now they think it's their time. Let's show them the real power of the Democratic Party and unions. Ordinary people organizing for a better life.
Join me and call Crossroads GPS. Their number is (202) 706-7051, which you can get from their website, but I would prefer not to give them the traffic. Let's shut down their phone lines. We will show them that they can bully us with a lot of money and spotty research.
