A Perfect Conversation: New Features!

Okay. As you probably know from my sig, I'm also a KosBuster. And last weekend while I was busy doing things outside the GOS, a new update went through that I missed. In that update, we got a nifty new feature that I only learned about today, thanks to kos publishing another diary about it. (Related diaries for groups)

Now, when I see a new feature, the first thing that happens is I get excited. And yes, sometimes I squee. I may not be a geek, but I love to play with tech stuff. Especially when that tech stuff does something I've been looking forward to. Yes, this is cool, and I love it!

So rather than spending time writing an intro tonight that you'd give a flip about, I've been spending it in my role as a KosBuster, playing and learning and seeing if anything breaks with this new feature.

Speaking of which, so far, so good for me, though I've read some IE users can't use the group's follow function for the same reason they can't use search. That will get fixed, but from what I've read, the devs are having a hell of a time replicating the problem. They've requested help from people who are having the issue, so if you're on IE and are one of those affected, contact them if you're willing to spend time on it. Late breaking news just before I went to publish this! Looks like they got it.

In any event, having played a bit in the KB sandbox, I'm looking to see how to best apply this to A Perfect Conversation. APC isn't a traditional group formed around any one topic or even a set of closely related topics. It's meant to be a wide-ranging group to consider many issues. So I'm going to have to be careful about what the group follows so as not to overflow the stream.

With that in mind, I'd like to hear your suggestions. What users, groups, and tags would you like to see the group follow? I've already added the activism and action tags, since those deal directly with one of the group's purposes, and the group is also following George Lakoff, who writes rarely, but if you haven't read his work before, I think you'll find it very interesting. I'd like to stay away from Barack Obama (the tag) simply because there's too much noise as far as this group is concerned, and I/P is probably best left to those who enjoy pie fights. Beyond that, I'd like to hear from you.

And with that, I'm going back to my play nook. Below, you'll find a couple republished diaries and a link to an article I think you'll enjoy.

A Perfect Conversation is a group for republishing diaries that:

A) Challenge the DK conventional wisdom.
B) Provide information which may lead to new ideas.
or
C) Push for action that is innovative or not just playing defense.

The point is not to agree (or disagree) with these diaries. It's about challenging ourselves to rethink our political philosophies, activities, and issue positions.
