Poor Randy Hopper. You remember him, don't you? He's the Wisconsin state senator facing a recall election after supporting Governor Scott Walker's union-busting bill. His chances of hanging on to his seat were diminished even further after his estranged wife signed the recall petition and revealed that the 45-year-old senator was living with his 25-year-old girfriend in Madison.
As if that weren't bad enough, the girlfriend, it turns out, was given a state job recently at a salary more than 30% higher than that of the more-experienced person she replaced. Hopper claims it's a coincidence.
Randy (bed)Hopper couldn't show his face at any town halls or listening sessions after all that bad news, so he sent out a newsletter (pdf) recently, encouraging his constituents to call a toll-free number to find out where the good senator stands on the issues facing Wisconsin.
Alas, the phone number was printed incorrectly and the number listed directed callers to dial another toll-free number...and guess what?
