Born in the midst of a harsh Winter in 2009, Kiva was found abandoned with her brother between two condemned buildings in Albuqueque, New Mexico. Her mother had been killed by a car and her body was near them. They were just weeks old.
A fireman, responding to a fire across the street from the buildings, found them and tucked them into his Bunker coat pocket to keep them warm and then radioed the Animal Humane Shelter to come and get them.
At the Animal Humane Shelter, she and her brother were given a warm cage, proper food and medical attention. The staff at the shelter named them, Bonnie and Clyde. At the age of six months, she watched her brother get adopted and she once again knew abandonment. Several weeks went by and nobody seemed to want her, prefering to adopt male kittens.
This is the true story of Kiva's struggle for a final chance to become relevant in a world that forgot her.
